Personal Counselling & Psychotherapy

Counselling and psychotherapy involve a relationship between you and our friendly psychologists. WE offer you a confidential space that enables you to develop an understanding about yourself and to make important changes and decisions in your life. Our team of psychologists are registered with the HPCSA are able to assist you with many personal, emotional, academic and social challenges.

These can include:

  • Adjustment to university and living away from home
  • Relationship with partners, family or friends/peers
  • Grief & Bereavement
  • Anxiety & depression
  • Fear of failure
  • Termination of pregnancy
  • Trauma related (Rape, childhood sexual abuse, armed robbery, hijacking)
  • Gender Based Violence
  • Sexuality & Sexual orientation issues
  • Academic related challenges (study skills, etc.)
  • Any other personal, emotional, psychological or social challenges

Career Counselling & Assessment

We offer career counselling and assessments to students to assist them with their study and career choice, career planning and development while studying at university. Career Counselling and assessment is also offered to non-registered students for a fee during the vacation periods. For further enquiries regarding this paid service, please contact our offices.

Therapeutic & Support Groups

Psychologists facilitate groups to assist students to manage common personal and psychological challenges. Research has indicated strong benefits of therapeutic and support groups where participants recognise that they are not alone, are able to improve interpersonally, recognise group support, safety and confidentiality. (Yalom, 1985). Some of the therapeutic support groups offered:
