“Lockdown has had a negative impact on the mental and emotional well-being of many people. Anxiety has been a typical response as people have lost control over so much in their lives. These audio recordings provide an opportunity to break the fight/flight/fright response in people by offering various ways to relax. As the person participates with the relaxation instructions, their breathing deepens, heart rate slows and this has a positive effect on blood pressure and health. This impacts positively on mood and the ability to focus, concentrate and cope better. It is not a medical treatment.

Each recording can be done anywhere the person will not be interrupted, and where they can relax and possibly even fall asleep, either sitting or lying down. They should not be driving or in a position where relaxing could distract them from something they should be doing.

Like any skill, the more someone does these exercises, the better they will get at relaxing more quickly and more deeply.”
